  • A church complex {WIP}

Here is a work in progress of a church complex that's going to be build here in charlotte NC.

    The standalone models:

    And a photo montage test:

I'm not really sure if this fits well, i might have to go and do some correct measurments, although thats pretty time consuming. What do you guys do when you're supposed to do a composition like this?

I like the pics of the standalone models, but I think the photo match test could use a bit of desaturation and a hit with the unsharpen mask filter.

I like the photomontage and if you tweak the lighting/exposure the church might be very convincing. The big problem is the parking lot. I would work on a more photoreal worn/dirty asphalt/concrete texture for it.

I've managed to render this somehow, i'm still having issues with memory and displacement though, but here it is, one down, two to go.

and a detail from the hi-res

I'd fix some things if i could figure out how to extract the layers from the vrimg file.

Nice Rendering. I think your modeling and lighting look excellent! The roof material looks sweet. My only crits are the yellow block looks to flat (needs bump). Some portions of your background look a little blured out too. Overall its looking good.

Looking good. Just take out those bad 3d people.. they are the only thing giving it away. I understand the reason behind using them, because 2d people rarely match the lighting, but in this case they are distracting.

I actually use the same 3d people library myself, but I always put a motion blur on them so they don't look as bad.

BTW, is that an Eastern Orthodox church? In the south? That's got to be rare. I only remember seeing baptist churches down there.

That poor guy in the second picture is a thorn in everybody's eyes

I wouldn't change the ones in the first view, i fear that the photos might be even more distracting. These give the sense of scale, even though they're not realistic. But the one in the second seems to be pretty distracting, or maybe it's just the CG guys

And yes, it's a Serbian Eastern Orthodox church, in the south. The existing building in front of the new building is used both as a church and for the offices.

ROFL, yeah, he really looks like he's about to scratch the hell out of that car.

                        DaForce,

Thanks, i prefered the first one, but everybody seems to like the other one. I was afraid that the dull lawn and the monotone parking lot in the background are going to put the image off but it seems that everybody is just paying attention to the guy and the car so this is not noticable.
The grass was made by simple displacement, and it didn't turn all that well in the higher res, but it seems to be working in the smaller image.
